Dimapur: Protesting against Dimapur Municipal Council’s (DMC) decision to hike the prices of poultry chicken—Poultry Union of Dimapur (PUD) has decided to put a full stop on the sale of poultry chickens at Dimapur for an indefinite period of time.

“The DMC is acting like a dictator. Without taking into account our concerns it has decided to fix the price of poultry chickens. Now one dressed chicken will cost Rs 250 per kg. This price will hit our business badly,” the PUD members said.

“The DMC has taken this decision in haste. The common people will suffer badly. The wholesale price of broiler chickens in Assam is Rs 190 per keg and Rs 300 per kg for dressed chickens. If DMC fixes rate of Rs 250 for dressed chicken we will incur losses by Rs 50. This is going to affect our business,” the PUD members observed.

In fact PUD also lashed out at a few news channels accusing it of  spreading canards about the rate of broiler chickens at Dimapur.
