Imphal: A high level fact finding team of All India Congress Committee (AICC) led by former Union Minister Mukul Wasnik, MP, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Members, office bearers of AICC and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal, on Thursday.

The delegation apprised Uikey of the prevailing situation in Manipur and urged her to take all possible steps to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

The delegaes requested the Governor to ensure that adequate relief materials are being provided to the violence-hit people and also urged her for the speedy re-settlement of the displaced people.

The Governor assured them to take all possible steps to restore peace and tranquility in the state and also assured the delegation for speedy relief and rehabilitation works for the affected people.

Later in the evening the Governor convened a meeting with Director General of Police, Manipur, P. Doungel at Raj Bhavan and took stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the state.

The DGP briefed her about the prevailing situation and security measures that have been put in place to bring the situation under control. He also highlighted about the security deployment in vulnerable areas after the recent violence that broke out in the state.
