Governor of Nagaland takes additional charge of Manipur

Governor, PB Acharya will discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur, in addition to his own duties as the governor of Nagaland.

Governor of Nagaland Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur following the governor of Manipur, Dr Najma Heptulla going on leave.


Governor PB Acharya will discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur, in addition to his own duties as the governor of Nagaland. 

Talking to media after the swearing-in ceremony, Governor PB Acharya said, “as the governor is the constitutional head, I want to perform my constitutional duties”. He said that a lot of things can be done to strengthen India and for that, all the states should be equally developed.

Acharya said that he is performing his duties as a governor in Nagaland and express his desire to do the same in Manipur during the short period saying that those who have been denied the benefits of central projects can be involved in a systematic manner to avail the benefits, the governor further said that the poorest of poor should be strengthened as the strength of chain lies in the weakest link and strengthening it will strengthen the whole system.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh along with his Council of Ministers, Members of Legislative Assembly, top Civil and Police Officials attended the swearing-in ceremony. at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Thursday.
