Agartala: A large number of people residing in the foothills of Baramura demonstrated before the office of the Sub-divisional Magistrate at Chakmaghat and blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway demanding immediate steps to save them from the depredations of wild elephants. The agitation by the people caused serious disruptions in the traffic system as hundreds of cars got stranded on both sides.
Receiving the information the Forest Range Officer Supriya Debnath and the Officer-in-Charge of Teliamura Police Station Subrata Chakraborty rushed to the spot and talked to the agitated people. The blockade was withdrawn after they assured steps shortly.
