Agartala: Tripura will walk along the path of co-ordinated development in all respects and to that end a blue print has been already framed. This will help us achieve the status of a developed state by the end of the year 2047. Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha made this assertion in the meeting of the NITI Ayog yesterday in Delhi.
The meeting was attended by the prime minister Narendra Modi, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, central secretaries as well as the chief secretaries of the states.
The chief minister gave a detailed briefing about the development works being carried out by the state government. He said that the MSME sector being subsidized by the state government is leading to the growth of the bilateral trade and commerce with Bangladesh, adding that the border trade with Bangladesh is also leading to the growth of Tripura’s economy also. Besides, the chief minister said , Tripura is planning to spur the growth of ‘Agar’ industry in Tripura by setting up ‘Agar’ clusters in north district of the state.

He added that Tripura is planning to invite and help bamboo-based industries in Tripura as bamboo is available in plenty in Tripura . “We have also framed an Agar Policy for the state and this is going to help us ; by the end of the year 2025 we are planning to have industrial investments worth at least Rs 2 thousand crores”said the chief minister. He also expressed the hope that growing industrialization in Tripura is paving the way for investments and employment of people .
“We are also following the policy enunciated by the honourable prime minster on vocal for local and local entrepreneurship is being encouraged ; this is also helping the growth of employment opportunities in the state” said Dr Manik Saha. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by the state government for expansion and betterment of tourism sector which is also a revenue multiplier for the state government.
A detailed plan for development and upgradation of tourist sports has also been prepared by the state government and this will be implemented on priority basis.
