Imphal: Peace continues to elude violence-hit Manipur as sulking mob reportedly barged into the residence of an MLA from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kh Raghumani Singh.

The situation took an ugly turn following the firing by the son of Singh. It is learnt that two persons have sustained injuries. They were shifted to RIMS, KRC Times has learnt. One of the injured was later shifted to Raj Medicity hospital at North AOC after his condition became critical.

Following the firing, a large number of people thronged the residence of the MLA and set fire the private office of the MLA. They also smashed a Gypsy (used by the security escorts of the MLA) and a Scorpio vehicle of the MLA before setting fire the vehicles on fire.

The sulking mob was controlled by police whose timely intervention averted a major disaster. “We just went to the residence of our local MLA to submit a memorandum addressed to the union home minister.

On seeing the volunteers approaching towards the residence the security guard shut the gate. Few amongst us pleaded with the security guard to open the gate. Sadly, the MLA’s son pulled his trigger and two members sustained severe injuries,” said a woman requesting anonymity who was in that melee.

The woman concerned lashed out at Singh and has demanded for his resignation. “Kh Raghumani Singh doesn’t deserve to be an MLA. We sent him to the Assembly. He must listen to us. If he doesn’t have the guts to listen us, he has no right to represent us in the Assembly.

We demand his resignation. It is our misfortune that we have elected such a horrible representative,” said the woman volunteers.
