Imphal: There is a rumour being circulated that the army will be stationed in and around Imphal. Refuting the rumour Manipur Home Department has released a statement through DIPR that there is no such decision taken. No step will be taken by any agency without the consent of the State Government

The public is appealed not to believe in or spread such rumour, the statement said. It is to be noted that Union Home Minister is on a three-day visit to Manipur. 

There are strong sentiments flowing about the Army taking over the city of Imphal in order to contain any protest or unrest and women folks stay awake the whole night ringing the electric poles alerting people to stay aware about any such act by defence forces. 

Due to this recent trend, the government came out with a statement to dispel any fear in the people of Imphal valley.
