Assam varsity makes documentary on ‘Sanskrit’ speaking village in Barak Valley

Silchar: A documentary film titled ‘Dharohar: The Resurrection’,   has been released by  the Vice chancellor of Assam University, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, in the presence of Pradosh Kiran Nath, Registrar, Prof. Piyush Pandey, IQAC Director,  and Prof. Gyan Prakash Pandey, Dean Abanindra Nath Tagore School of Creative Arts & Communication Studies (ANTSCACS) and Prof. Sudipta Roy HoD, CSE and Chairman, Research & Development Cell at Hemanga Biswas Sabha kaksha, Assam University, Silchar on Tuesday. 

The film has been released on the YouTube channel, Twitter handle and Facebook pages of the university. The documentary   has been written and directed by Dr. Paromita Das, Associate professor Department of  Mass Communication.

Kutub Uddin Ansari and Jyotish Dutta were the assistant directors. This documentary has been edited by Kutub Uddin Ansari. The documentary has been produced by Assam University. It is based on the Sanskrit speaking villages of Anipur basti and Patiala basti of Karimganj district of Barak valley. 

These two remote villages have adapted Sanskrit as their language of communication. They are not only speaking Sanskrit but have also adapted sanatan culture in their daily life which is reflected in their Vedic chantings and performing yagyas as they perform it on a monthly basis. The villagers have also translated many translating folk songs into Sanskrit and this has helped them achieve a very unique position.
