The government in an order by the Home Department issued today extended the ban till 3 pm on June 15
Imphal : The internet ban by the Manipur government has been now further extended till June 15 though the curfew relaxation hours are relaxed up to 8 PM from morning 5 AM in the Imphal districts.
Though the Education Department is trying to reopen the educational institute, the internet ban is going to affect students who will not be in a position to attend physical classes.
IPR Minister in a press briefing also commented that internet facilities will be provided to important places in a phased manner though he did not comment on when the ban can be lifted.
The government in an order by the Home Department issued today extended the ban till 3 pm on June 15. The ban is imposed every five days and the government is monitoring the situation as hate speeches on social media may escalate the already volatile environment between the communities.
As such there is apprehension that some anti-social elements might use social media extensively for transmission of images, hate speech and hate video messages inciting the passions of the public which might have serious repercussions for the law and order situation in the state.
