Unauthorized Chain Pulling on trains is a criminal offence

In this regard RPF -Post – New Haflong has arrested one person for unauthorized chain pulling from January 2023 to 12th June 2023

Haflong : Railway Protection Force , Lumding Division , N F Railway , has conducted an intensive drive against offenders of unauthorized Alarm Chain Pulling on trains over Lumding Division from January 2023 to 12th June , 2023. During this drive as many as 243 cases were registered under section 141 Railways Act , 1989 , with arrest of 244 persons .

The arrested persons were put behind the bars . The unauthorized stopping of a train by pulling chain , affects punctuality of other trains running over the sections , which subsequently result in late reaching of destinations by the travelling passengers .

This creates various types of problems like missing of connecting trains , reaching office late etc. Unauthorisely Pulling Chain in trains to stop the train is a criminal offence under section 141 of Railways Act , 1989 , and the punishment is imprisonment for a term which may extend up to one year , or with fine which may extend to one thousand Rupees or with both .

In this regard RPF / Post / New Haflong has arrested one person for unauthorized chain pulling from January 2023 to 12th June 2023 .

Dossiers of persons convicted in chain pulling cases are uploaded in the Inter operable Criminal Justice System , which acts as a hindrance in obtaining the police verification report .

Therefore the entire general public are apprise not to commit this offence of chain pulling in order to avoid prosecution .
