Diphu :  To mark the “International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking” district administration and Karbi Anglong police destroyed huge quantity of seized illicit and contraband drugs in full public view in a private brick-kneel located in Diphu- Manja Road at the fringe of Diphu town. Drugs worth around forty eight crore rupees was hurled inside the furnace of the brick kneel and within no time the narcotic  like heroin, morphine, marijuana , opium etc. were smolder to ashes.  

Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong, Sanjib Saikia and other senior police officers monitored the holy obliteration program. Later Saikia told the media present at the site that the market price of the assorted drugs would be around Rs. 48,40,05,900/- ( forty eight crores forty lakhs five thousand and nine hundred rupees).

The destroyed drugs are includes heroin 11.262 kilogram, ganja or marijuana 1718.784 kilogram, opium  66.568 kg Crystal alias Syabu (Methamphetamine)  5.238 kg, morphine  0.949 kg, cough syrup with sedative ingredient  358 bottles, tablets with banned narcotic contain  85068 numbers, heroin from a different seizer 585.99  grams ,ganja  from a different seized 15.142 kilogram.

The righteous endeavor of police and administration to discourage the drug dealers and the end users is continuing for quite a time in regular interval but there is no letup in drugs smuggling and abuse in this region of Assam. The diehard paddlers and the drug lords have kept this route full of activity.
