Sarporaj Hojai, Rajeshree Khersa (female), Biswajyoti Hojai from Dima Hasao and Biswajit Roy from Goalpara were among eleven members of Dima Hasao Adventure Association (DHAA) who forwards for Mt. Hanuman Tibba peak, however due to sudden illness Biswajyoti Hojai at Summit Camp (over 18000 ft) could not proceed.

Other members were Ditujit Kemprai, Uddit Bathari, Pronesh Kemprai, Pritam Thaosen, Lalmintheng Hengna, Binonjit Jidung and Lobomon Thaosen from Dima Hasao who forward for Beas Kund (12772 ft), a trek to the source of river Beas with terrific mountain views.

Ditujit Kemprai, DHAA secretary said they feel very proud that they are the first organization to send a team to expedition from the district and also the first to come out successful. “We hope that our team will summits more peaks in coming days and more youths from our district will come up.”

Speaking to this correspondent Sarporaj Hojai over phone said that it was a very challenging one for him since, he got his basic mountaineering course and expedited the Sangri Range in 2019 and doing the activity over three years of gap.

“I heard from other mountaineers that summiting Mt. Hanuman Tibba is a difficult one since its require techniques and tactics. I almost break down at Thentha pass as the snow we were trekking were loose and couldn’t get a good grip though we put on snow boots, but we somehow reach the Summit Camp.

The next day we started our summit push at wee hour as snow remain freeze and pack during that time We trekked for nearly two hour in very steep and climbs a cliff through rope by Jumaring (to climb up a fixed rope using jumars) for 6 hours set up by our sherpa friends before finally reaching the peak.” Hojai added.

Rajasree Khersa, Dima Hasao’s first ever woman mountaineer said that she feels lucky enough to get an opportunity to join the expedition right after her Advance Mountaineering Course. “Climbing Mountain is not only reaching the top and posing for a picture.

It’s lot more than that, one cannot climb mountain just for funs, it demands everything from you be it energy or attitude. I have heard a lot from seniors, instructors and sources that accidents happen during descend and it is lot more safe ascending, and this is what I experienced this time and get to know the actual cost and fact that why do those really occur during descend.” Said Khersa “I am glad that me and my team are successful in summiting the peak and we are back guardedly.” She added.
