Haflong : Several women organizations of Dima Hasao like ladies welfare society, Mahila Shakti Mondol strongly condemned the rape incident at Manderdisa in Dima Hasao. It is learned that a minor girl of 12 years was raped by one Raja Das S/O Lt. Babul Das Vill-Krompron 7 mile Super Market. P.S.-East Police Station Dimapur Dist- Dimapur, Nagaland aged 26 years on July 28 near bamboo factory of Manderdisa.

The accused was apprehended by the public after the girl informed them about the incident and handed over to police. Meanwhile the mother of the victim lodged an FIR at Langting PS. The police forwarded the accused to the Addl. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam(Through PI Court, Haflong) court and demanded five days of police custody of the accused registering a case vide Langting PS Case No.16/2023 U/S-376[2) (1) IPC R/W Sec.4 of POCSO Act.

The victim was brought to Haflong civil for treatment as she had suffered injury and was released on Wednesday. Gopa Choudhury of Ladies welfare Society and Parboti Thaosen of Mahila Shakti Mondol went to the Hospital but couldn’t meet the parents and victim as the victim was released before they reached.

However, Choudhury and Thaosen strongly condemned the incident also demanded strict action against the culprit. They have also assured that they will extend every possible help to the victim. When the media approached the mother of the victim she refused to speak as she was restricted to speak to the media. The Police could not be contacted for comment, even after repeated approaches.
