Imphal : The dreaded Dengue claims the life of an India Reserve Battalion at Moreh, Manipur Myanmar border.
Sanabam Bungcha, 23, a jawan of the 5th India Reserve Battalion stationed at Moreh border town died of dengue shock syndrome.

He is the first victim of Dengue in the state this year. Sanabam Bungcha was a resident of Yairipok Yambem of Manipur’s Thoubal district. Meantime, Sanabam Jugindro, Advisor of the Civil Organisations, Yairipok Yambem, speaking to newsmen at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal on Monday said that the life of S Bungcha would have been saved easily if he was evacuated to a hospital at Imphal.

However, due to prevailing ethnic violence between the Kukis and Meiteis, Bungcha was unable to refer to Imphal Hospital. For the past many weeks road blockade agitations are being carried out by the tribal women against the Meiteis. S Bungcha was a Meitei. Meantime, the Yairipok Naharol Marup, in a memorandum to the chief minister N Biren Singh demanded all facilities including a suitable government job to the next of kin of the Dengue victim.
