Imphal : “Manipur is on its path to normalcy,” Chief Minister N Biren Sing said. “With collective commitment, we can restore peace,” the CM was speaking against the ethnic violence that erupted on May 3,Talking to the newsmen at the Hicham Yaichalpat in Imphal West district on the observation of the 132nd Patriot’s Day on Sunday, the CM said that peace would be restored with help from various sections of the society.
Concerning the attempts made by some minority communities with the assistance of external forces for the disintegration of the state, the CM said that his government always affirmed unwavering resolve against elements seeking to divide Manipur.
He said, “With public support, we are confronting those attempting to fracture our state.” He also urged all the citizens of Manipur, “Let us renew our pledge to stand united, safeguarding our homeland with profound respect.”
The ethnic violence that erupted on May 3, 2023, between the Kukis and Meiteis cost the lives of over 160 individuals and over 60,000 people displaced. (The end)
