Diphu : The 77th Independence Day was observed in the entire Karbi Anglong district with nationalistic fervor, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council in association with district administration observed the day with an agenda involving various schools, social organizations, eminent personalities and regimented forces. The official celebration was held at Diphu Government Boys Higher Secondary School playground.
Chief Executive Member of Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang unfurled the national tricolor in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, invited dignitaries, Executive Members of the council, MLAs, Member of Lok Sabha and thousands of viewers.
He was presented with an impressive guard of honor and elegant march-past presented by the armed contingent of Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Police, Armed women contingent of Assam Police, Home Guard and school brigades. The awe-inspiring band of the Indian Reserve Battalion kept the entire marching contingents on their toes.
Tuliram Ronghang in his elongated speech as chief guest mostly spoke about the spectacular development that took place in this autonomous region of Assam keeping pace with the rest of the nation under the Modi government and able leadership of Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He mentioned that if people keep their trust in the B J P government more and more development will take place on all fronts.
Independence Day awards were shared by Kendriya vidyalaya, Badan Memorial High School, Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya, Mount Calvary English High School, Christian English School, Diphu ,Don Bosco school, Diphu. Best contingent award went to 20 Battalion Central Reserve Police force, Diphu Government Boys’ HS School and Diphu Government College, Diphu
