A time bound judicial Enquiry of the Manipur conflict is yet to be declared and it is paramount that the incident that was triggered with a peace rally on May 3 culminating to such a situation tormenting the state for more than three months now should undergo a proper judicial enquiry process under IPC. The guilty should also be punished and booked according to the law of the land.

The government of India needs to identify the cause of the conflict as well as punish those found guilty. Such incidents should never happen in any part of the country and in the Government road map of solving the situation a time bound judicial enquiry should definitely take precedence.

Thousands of people have suffered and gruesome crime has been committed. Many life has been lost and the state of Manipur is in a standstill. The conflict is in a state of standoff and an artificial and forced partition of the state is imposed. There is no sign of any peace settlement or a solution being worked out to restart the state economy.

Unless the justice system take the fore front and enquiry report take into account the very cause of the conflict, no solution to the conflict is visible in near future. We just cannot allow the conflict to drag on without a settlement.

Chief Minister of the state has given a call on his Independence Day speech to forgive and forget, which in itself is a promising first step but equally true is that there should be a natural course of justice to those who had suffered the most.

A CBI team has arrived in the state to investigate various crimes committed which is also a welcome step but how will the investigative team collect all the evidence so late after three months is a question best left to its conclusion. Maybe they will do justice with their mechanism of investigative skills and acumen.

The law of the land needs to be established as well as justice should be given to the people who had suffered in this conflict.

The enquiry and investigation should not take too long as well as the Judicial Enquiry should also be constituted without any further delay…
