Imphal : Indian security forces have been on high alert following the killing of a man by unknown gunmen along the Myanmar border on Tuesday night, an official source said here on Wednesday.
A man of around 40 to 50 years of age was found dead with multiple bullet injuries on his body along the international border (IB) near Moreh, India’s gateway to the Southeast Asian countries, the sources said here on Wednesday.
There were several injury marks on his neck, apart from multiple bullet injuries on his body. The body was found at the riverbed of Lokchao (India) and Maklang (Myanmar), a tributary of the Chinwin (Ningthi in Manipuri) river of Myanmar on Tuesday, the sources said on Wednesday.
The body of the killed person has been picked up by the Myanmarese police on Wednesday. The identity of the killed individual whether belonging to the Indian national or Myanmarese is yet to be established. The cause of the killing is under investigation, the sources added.
The brutal and “unprecedented” incident that took place along the Indo-Myanmar borders on Tuesday has prompted the Indian security forces to issue a “high alert” and Indian authority has sought cooperation with its counterpart to find details thereof at the earliest.
