Rakhis made of cow dung are being used today and therefore it is necessary to know about the cow and its cow dung. In our country cow is given respect like a mother and a cow is called as cow-mother.It is believed that the cow is representative of divinity and natural grace and hence should be protected and worshipped. The worship of cows in Hindu religion dates back to the Vedic period.
The veneration of the cow is indicated by the use of Panchagavya, the five products of the cow, milk, curd, butter, urine, and cow dung, in the rites of purification and atonement. The medicinal importance of cow is also very high, cow's milk is like nectar, Governor added.
