Imphal : A total of 2748 Myanmar-origin illegal liquor costing approximately Rs 11.59 lakhs in the regional markets have been recovered at Aina village, Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Wednesday, a defense wing press statement said here on Thursday.
Based on a piece of specific information from across the border, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post of Assam Rifles intercepted one Bolero Pickup vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle later identified as one Sawnlian, Son of Somjamun resident of New Churachandpur and owner of these liquor bottles, Liansanglun, son of Giljamang resident of New Lamka, Churachandpur was apprehended in Aina, on National Highway-02. They were caught carrying Myanmar origin illegal liquor.
The seized items include 420 bottles of Rum & 2328 Beer Bottles. The confiscated items were later handed over to Police Station Churachandpur for further action, the statement added.
