Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare, P. Paiwang Konyak, has announced plans to convert the District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) into a Referral Hospital. This transformation is aimed at catering to the healthcare needs of other district hospitals in the state.

During a review meeting held on the 2nd of September 2023 at the conference hall of DHD, the minister assured improvements in DHD’s infrastructure, manpower, and other essential areas. He also assured the appointment of top doctors and super specialists at DHD in the near future.

Paiwang disclosed plans for the reshuffling and rationalization of doctors and medical officers, following a similar pattern to the administration and police departments, with transfers and postings limited to three years. He emphasized that medical practitioners should be willing to serve anywhere and indicated that he would not entertain transfer and posting-related letters.

Acknowledging the dedication of doctors and medical staff at DHD during the COVID-19 pandemic, Paiwang assured the posting of a Forensic expert and the strengthening of manpower as a priority.

The review meeting was attended by medical officials, doctors from the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, and Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal.
