Classes from IX to XII re-opened in the State on August 10
Imphal : A day after Teachers’ Day was observed on Tuesday, colleges which were remained closed owning to ethnic violence, are set to reopen on Wednesday (September 6). Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted that over the past month, school attendance for students from class 1 to 12 has surged to an impressive 90%.
“As we gradually get back to normalcy, the State Government is committed to always keep education on priority despite the hard times we have endured over the last few months” He tweeted. “Additionally, colleges are set to reopen on September 6th. Let’s continue to prioritize learning and safety for all!” he added.
Because of the communal clash that broke out between the Meiteis and Kukis, the classes for colleges across the state remained closed since May 4. Classes from IX to XII re-opened in the State on August 10.
Meanwhile, during a meeting at the Raj Bhavan, Manipur governor A Uikey was informed by the state chief secretary Dr Joshi that the state will bear the fees of those displaced students whose parents are inability to payment of private school fees.
A Uikey, in return, asked the CS for identification of those relief camps facing acute shortages of essential supplies and to constitute a monitoring committee to look into such matters. She also suggested for setting up a helpline number for addressing the grievances and concerns of the inmates directly.
