Imphal : After recovering 1 arm and 4 explosives from Imphal East and Thoubal districts, Manipur police and security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Bishnupur district on Tuesday morning, the police said. An anti-bomb squad was called to defuse the IED, and the road was closed for traffic movement after the IED was detected.

A joint team of Moirang police and security forces detected the IED near the Mahindra Showroom and Hotel Elegant at Tiddim Road in Manipur’s Bishnupur district at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The police said that a bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the spot and defused the IED. Earlier, shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted.

The police added that ahead of the detection of the IED, search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West, and Kakching districts and recovered 1 arm and 4 explosives from Imphal East and Thoubal districts.
