Ibobi urged the state government to put pressure on the center to shift away the Assam Rifles from Manipur
Imphal : Ten political parties on Monday slammed the BJP-led government in Manipur headed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh for its unable to take action against the Assam Rifles personnel who gunned down 2 innocents and caused injuries to 80 people mostly women in the Pallel incident on September 8.
The representatives of these political parties including AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI (M), INC, JDU, NCP, RSP, and SS (UBT) strongly condemned the atrocities of the Assam Rifle against the innocents and thereby unable to take (legal) actions against them by the state government till date.
In a joint press conference of these political parties held at the Congress Bhavan, Imphal on Monday, former chief minister and CLP leader, O bobi Singh slammed the state government for not taking any action against the unruly activities of the Assam Rifles
He reiterated that the bounden duty of the state is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens in times of crisis `which the state government has failed to do for the last four months.
Ibobi urged the state government to put pressure on the center to shift away the Assam Rifles from Manipur. He also stated that the union government should act now to call on both communities to immediately shun violence and pave the way for peace and mutual co-existence.
