Diphu :  Karbi Rong Asar Amei a social organization of Karbi Anglong has opposed the creation of the Village Development Council by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council yesterday. Birensing Engti, president of the Mahamaya branch committee of the organization expressed his displeasure over the council’s decision to constitute Village Development Council within its authority.

Birensing Engti told the local media that Village Development Council should not be set-up in the Sixth Scheduled areas rather Traditional Village Development Council should be set-up for the safeguarding the original tribes’ culture, social order and religious heritage as provided in the sixth schedule of the Indian constitution.
