Imphal : A one-time financial assistance under the Special Scheme for Education of Children of Labour Card Holders staying at Relief Camps has been distributed to the beneficiaries in a function held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Sunday.
Organized by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has provided Rs. 5000 each to each beneficiaries .Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the scheme is for the education of children to every family having a valid labour card and staying in the relief camps set up by the Government of Manipur.
After distributing the financial assistance, N. Biren Singh interacted with the beneficiaries who are currently staying at relief camps and listened to the grievances brought up by them. He also said that the Government is taking up all necessary measures for the welfare of the people affected by the recent violence that occurred in the State.
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, Chairperson, Manipur Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board K. Saratkumar Singh and other officials also attended the programme among others. In the communal violence that erupted on May 3, over 60,000 people including school-going students were displaced and are taking shelter at different relief camps across the state.
