Manipur CM confident of arresting Kuki miscreants responsible for killing 2 students

Imphal : A 5 member special CBI team started a spot investigation into the alleged killing of two students that caused widespread protests across the valley districts in the state for the second day on Wednesday.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday while talking to the newsmen announced that those Kuki miscreants responsible for the killing of two students would be arrested as soon as possible. The special CBI team has entered the Churachandpur district.

Condemning the act of the miscreants, the state government has taken the case seriously and will find an amicable solution to this effect, he stated. The team arrived at Imphal from the national capital on Wednesday.

In reply to a question posed by a reporter, the CM said that whatever the remains of the two killed students would be tried to recover as the Meiteis required whatever the remains of a dead man for performing their last rites.

The two students namely Hijam Linthoingambi (17) and Phijam Hemanjit (20), who went missing on July 6, 203 at a place in Churachandpur district, and whose photos showing their last moment and lifeless bodies went viral on social media. Since then the state witnessed various forms of agitations across the state.
