The Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey, the Attorney General for India, R. Venkataramani, and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh held discussions on the present situation of this strife-torn state. The meeting focuses on submitting a report on the present situation of the state to the Supreme Court of India, officials said.
The Attorney General of India is the highest law officer in the country and he is responsible for assisting the government in all its legal matters of the Manipur crisis at present. The Governor who is the head of the Manipur state had visited and taken stock of the prevailing situation at several relief camps across the state.
At first, R. Venkataramani called on the Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Friday.
A Raj Bhavan communique states that during the meeting with the visiting AG, the Governor informed him about the prevailing situation in the State and detailed her continuous visits to different relief camps both in the hills and in the valley districts of Manipur. The Governor informed him about the efforts made towards bringing back peace and normalcy by the State and Central governments so that the two warring communities – the Meiteis and Kukis could live together as before.

In this context, Attorney General R Venkataramani submitted a report on the segregation of cases done by state police. Attorney General for India R Venkataramani appearing for the government told the Supreme Court the government is handling the situation in Manipur at a “very mature level”.
The AG and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also met at the Raj Bhavan attending the oathtaking ceremony of the new Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court on Friday. Later, they also discussed and prepared for submitting the reports on the Manipur crisis to the Supreme Court as per the directive of the latter, the sources added.
