Around thirty women folks were imparted skill development training on Agarbatti and candle making to make self-reliant entities in the future
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India organised an Open Day for school students from Imphal to visit labs and interact with scientists about various research areas of bioresources. During the visit on Wednesday, students of C.C. Higher Secondary School, Imphal visited the IBSD campus to explore various research activities and outreach programmes of the institute for the development of local bioresources of this region.
During the programme, Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD interacted with students and teachers to inculcate the scientific temperament among them and highlighted various research opportunities in the bioresources of this region.
All the students visited different labs and interacted with scientists about ongoing research on bioresources including plants, microbes, and edible insects. IBSD is organizing such events under the “Science for Society” program.

Prof. Mukherjee informed that more such training and engagements in various fields will be undertaken by IBSD in the coming months to make people of the region skilled in their entrepreneurial journey and to infuse scientific temperament in school-going children.
