Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) is an organisation  which was developed on April 20,2007 with the objective of uplifting the economic status of the state by way of  inculcating work culture and inspiring many jobless youths in the state of Manipur with the motto of “Work for Identity”.

KEDO has around 150 volunteers at present who are working in and around Imphal. They are engaged in various activities like selling tea, sugar cane juice, ice creams, milk, edible oil and transporting goods for the women vendors and rendering service as night- watches at market places.

KEDO observed its 12th Foundation Day at Khwairamband Ima Keithel today.

Thokchom Surchandra Meetei, Secretary, KEDO said that since work culture has vanished from the society, the state is fiscally poor hinging on others for existence. With most of the people, the educated youths in particular, eying for only the white collar job as the best one for dignified and decent living in society, the state witnesses a cut throat competition among the job seekers. Our youths need to expand their vision, ideology beyond white collar job and free themselves from the wrong perception. If we inculcate work culture, there are many ways for earning.

Prof.M.Premjit Singh, Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor,Central University, Lamphelpat, Soibam Maniton, president, KEDO, Dr.H.Birakumat Singh,Sr.Principal Scientist, CSIR- NEIST, Lamphelpat and Rakesh Takyenjam, Executive Director,Panthoibi Housing Finance were the dignitaries of the function.

KEDO souvenir 2019 was also released in the function. Workers of KEDO and many women vendors of IMA Keithel were also present at the function.
