Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday accused the Narendra Modi Government of trying to curb the voice of farmers who are demanding justice.

On his social media handle X, Kharge said, “To stop the farmers, the government has put in place everything from barbed wires to tear gas from drones, nails and guns”.

He said that in the last 10 years, the Modi government has broken three promises – doubling farmers’ income by 2022, 50 per cent MSP and legal guarantee for MSP — made to the “annadata” of the country.

The Congress President said that now the time has come for the 62 crore farmers to raise their voice against the dictatorial Modi Government.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference here, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said, “After withdrawing the three black laws on July 18, 2022, the Modi government had promised the farmers to make a law for MSP. When the government failed to meet their demands then why should they not ask for guarantee of the promise made by the Modi Government”.

He said that whenever history would be written, the 10 years of the Modi Government’s tenure would be remembered as a period of cruelty, repression and oppression against farmers.

Surjewala said that the “cruel government” should know that the farmers will write the story of their fate and the victory of MSP on this road.
