Congress MP candidate Gaurav Gogoi while campaigning for party candidate Hafiz Rashid Choudhary in Karimganj on April 23 said that this Lok Sabha election could be the last election of his life.

Speaking at the election rally, Gaurav Gogoi said, “This isn’t any ordinary election. this might be our last polls. If the political scenario doesn’t change then, then this will be our live’s last polls. It is through this elections were are trying to safeguard our democracy”.

Adding about the his father, late chief minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi said, “My father was the chief minister of Assam for 15 years and we don’t have any tea gardens in our name nor any syndicate run under my name. I had not provided any orders for sand or coal contract. He was a true statesman”.

Slamming AIUDF, Gogoi further added, “We say don’t give a single vote to AIUDF. We don’t support political teams that support BJP or speak about CM Sarma. We should not waste our precious votes on them”.

Earlier, Congress MP Candidate Rakibul Hussain, in a fervent address during an election rally held in Karimganj in support of party candidate Hafiz Rashid Choudhary, emphasized the pivotal role played by Choudhary as the connecting bridge between Barak and Brahmaputra.

Hussain questioned the developmental endeavors of the BJP in comparison to the contributions of Moinul Haque Chowdhury in Barak Valley, asserting that the delimitation process had infringed upon the political rights of Hindus and Muslims in Karimganj.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the BJP’s performance, Hussain underscored unfulfilled promises made to the people of Karimganj, urging voters to rally behind Hafiz Rashid Chowdhury for victory in the impending by-election. He declared intentions to challenge the MLA’s post through legal avenues and criticized Himanta Biswa Sarma’s involvement in the electoral process.
