Smart Electric Poles, equipped with multiple features, have been erected in Namsai town of Arunachal.

The poles come with an EV charger, CCTV, an Emergency help button, and a Weather Report screen.

The project is a significant step towards enhancing urban infrastructure by integrating crucial services into single poles.

MC Saikia, Junior Engineer of the Namsai Power department, stated that these poles, also known as Smart street lights, have been installed in three towns of Arunachal, including Namsai. 

Two more towns are slated to receive these installations.

The Smart lights boast a 360-degree CCTV camera, an EV charging port for electric vehicles, an Air quality index viewer, a Weather report screen, and emergency sirens.

“These lights have 360-degree CCTV cameras, EV charging for charging electric vehicles, Air quality index can be viewed, Weather report can be seen here, case of emergency sirens can be used which are installed in these smart lights,” he added.

Saikia also addressed the issue of non-functional street lights in Namsai, attributing it to the ongoing renovation and repair work of the town’s drainage system, which damaged some wires.

He assured that the issue would be resolved soon.
