A class VII student was allegedly subjected to severe physical assault by a teacher, resulting in unconsciousness at Patu High School in Karimganj, in Assam. The teacher, identified as Dhananjay, has been detained following a case registered against him at the Sadar police station in Karimganj.
The incident came to light through a complaint lodged by the student’s father, detailing the harrowing ordeal faced by his daughter. According to the complaint, the student was hit on the head by the teacher, leading to her losing consciousness in the classroom.
The student’s father spoke to the media detailing the incident, “Dhananjay sir has punched my daughter multiple times on her head, and as a result, she went unconscious immediately. I was called by the principal of the school, and he urged me to get help from legal authorities. The principal conveyed that they are unable to take disciplinary action against the accused teacher, as the teacher in question has allegedly retaliated with personal attacks directed at the principal.”
Upon finding the student in an unconscious state, the school principal immediately informed her parents. News of the incident quickly spread, prompting a public response that culminated in the teacher, Dhananjay, being locked up and the authorities being notified.
The case has brought attention to the issue of student safety and the responsibility of educators to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.
