On Monday, a formal inauguration ceremony marked the commencement of a special ten-day Entrepreneurship Development Program for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Cachar, Silchar, in collaboration with the voluntary organization Anisa Foundation. Distinguished guests including Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Lead District Manager (LDM) of Cachar, Jagjyoti Bhattacharya, Director of PNB RSETI Cachar, Shahed Chowdhury, Training Course Coordinator of PNB RSETI Cachar, M.R. Bodhuya, Manisha Nag, and Anisa Foundation’s Chief Executive Ekbar Hussain attended the event.
Lila Rani Das, President of the Moushumi Disabled Welfare Society, presided over the session.
During the event, Jagjyoti Bhattacharya highlighted the shift in societal attitudes towards disabled individuals, emphasizing the government’s initiatives for their development. He underscored the role of the Social Welfare Department in implementing various developmental programs and stressed the need for collaborative efforts between PNB RSETI Cachar, Anisa Foundation, and government bodies to promote entrepreneurship and economic empowerment among persons with disabilities.
During this meeting, the LDM Cachar Dinesh Kumar Gupta stated that after the successful completion of this EDP training, the differently-abled individuals will be assisted with loans under government schemes to start their own businesses. M.R. Badhuya, Ekbar Hussein and the Coordinator of the training course, along with Shahed Chowdhury, emphasized relevant remarks at the meeting. Participants will be trained in entrepreneurial competency, business opportunity identification, marketing, and project report preparation along with candle making, mushroom cultivation, vermiculture composting, poultry and fish farming, and agricultural extension.
