The Dima Hasao police force has adopted a unique way to bring down the number of frequent road accidents taking place across the state.
To commend individuals adhering to traffic regulations by wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers, police officers have taken to presenting them with the traditional gamosa.
The Dima Hasao Police also took to their official X account to share the intiative by posting a heartwarming video. The said, “Kudos to the father-son duo for obeying traffic rules and staying safe.”
Earlier, signboards declaring that people not abiding by the traffic rules will not be allowed to enter the Dima Hasao district surfaced across the internet. In a stringent action against traffic violators, the police officials put up signboards which read, “No helmet, no seat belt, no entry into Dima Hasao.”
In a similar incident, earlier, a bus accident in Dima Hasao resulted in the loss of one life and left several passengers critically injured. The incident involved a Tripura-bound night bus that veered off the highway after losing control.
The district police, in view of the frequent road accidents taking place in the district has taken various strict measures to ensure the safety of life of motorists and people traveling in four-wheelers. Following the trend, the Dima Hasao police launched a massive awareness campaign to prevent road accidents in the district.
