A passenger bus travelling from Karimganj district to Silchar met with a severe accident near Manashera railway station in Hailakandi on Wednesday (May 22), injuring around 20 passengers.

 The incident occurred when the bus lost control and collided with a tree in front of the Monassera railway station.

 The force of the impact caused significant damage to the bus and left numerous passengers with injuries.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, and all the injured passengers were admitted to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi.

Hospital officials report that the injured are receiving necessary medical attention, though the extent of their injuries varies.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with bystanders rushing to assist the injured before emergency services arrived. 

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver might have lost control due to a mechanical failure, but a thorough investigation is underway.
