Todays collection of Twitter War of Words by Mahesh Jethmalani, MP (RS), Sr. Advocate (SC)
#MamataBanerjee is enraged. The pillar on which her long reign since 2011 as #WestBengalCM rests -Muslim reservation- has been meticulously demolished by the Calcutta High Courts verdict today. The court struck down 5 lakh OBC certificates issued since 2010 the vast majority of them being issued since Mamata became CM. These certificates were for reservations of vacancies in public services and posts. Most significantly the court held that the OBC reservations were a camouflage for the real intent of the State: religious reservation solely for Muslims. 41 out of 42 classes recommended for reservation were Muslim. In other words Muslim reservations were effected under the guise of being OBC ones.
A fraud was perpetrated by Mamata on the OBCs, the people of WB and the Constitution. Indeed the entire I.N.D.I.alliance is not merely consumed by vote bank politics but faces an existential crisis without it. #DrManmohanSingh canvassed muslim reservations during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections and #RahulGandhi did the same before the 2014 one. But Mamata by a clandestine fraud implemented it in West Bengal and the fraud was imitated by the #INC govts in Telengana & Karnataka as OBC reservations were reduced by disguised Muslim ones.
No wonder then that Mamata Banerjee has launched a vicious attack on not just today’s judgement of the high court of her state, but the judges and the court itself insinuating that they are the handmaidens of the BJP. In exposing Mamata Banerjee’s reservation fraud and rank communalism, the Calcutta High Court may have dealt a death blow to Mamata’s power base but it has primarily upheld the constitutional values envisaged by our most eminent Constituent Assembly: that reservation exists only for those historically discriminated against and that religious reservations are anathema to a nation already once devastated and divided by power hungry religious bigots.
