Whispering Journey Through Grief

Whispering Journey Through Grief

I stand at the edge
of the cemetery,
heart heavy with grief,
the cool autumn breeze
rustles leaves,
whispers through trees…

“Just one more hug,” I whisper,
voice breaking, tears welling up,
eyes closed,
searching for your voice
in the unbearable silence…

“Why did you leave me?”
Words barely audible,
tears blur my vision,
the gravestone a hazy blur…

Fingers brush
against cold stone,
“How can I hug you,” I cry,
“when I can’t see you?”

“Just one more hug.
Is that too much to ask?”
My voice echoes,
the unyielding stone
answers back with silence…

I clutch at the empty air,
desperate to feel your warmth,
the ghost of your embrace
slipping through my fingers.”
“How do I love a memory?” I sob,
arms aching with emptiness.

I hug the nothingness,
pretending it’s you,
feeling only the void.
“Just one more hug,” I whisper,
voice a fragile plea,
I collapse, holding the air,
in my mind, it’s your arms,
that holds me…

Lying there, cradling emptiness,
peace slowly envelops me.
Your love not confined to
presence, in memories shared,
lessons taught,
love still lingering in my heart…

I stand, wipe my tears,
a hand on the gravestone,
a final farewell.
“I’ll always love you,” I whisper,
“I’ll carry you with me, always.”

With a heavy heart,
newfound resolve,
I turn away from the grave,
autumn breeze gentler now,
leaves whisper soft comfort…

The pain of loss will
never fully disappear,
but your love is a part of me,
guiding me through my life…

As I walk away,
the sun breaks through clouds,
casting a warm glow,
a sense of connection,
your love transcending
the metaphysical…

I carry the memory
of that final hug,
a cherished reminder,
a love that will never fade…
