Jiribam : Meitei Alliance strongly condemns the heinous crime of the killing of a CRPF jawan and injuring three other security personnel in Jiribam district of Manipur. This incident happened when a combined team of 20th Battalion CRPF and Manipur Police was attacked by Chin-Kuki cross border terrorists when the team was conducting a joint search operation on Sunday, 14th July 2024.

In a media release by the Convenor, it stated that, this cowardly attack that killed the CRPF jawan, Ajoy Kumar Jha (43) from Bihar in the line of duty, shook the whole community to the core and their conscience. His supreme sacrifice while serving the nation will be remembered with utmost respect.

Meitei Alliance extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of martyr Ajoy Kumar Jha while also praying for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel.

It may be remembered that there had been multiple such attacks on security forces in the past by Chin Kuki cross border terrorists during the current Manipur mayhem which erupted when they started ethnic cleansing of Meiteis in Kuki dominated areas of Manipur.

On another such pre-planned attack, the Manipur CM’s advanced security convoy to Jiribam was ambushed on 10th June, seriously injuring a security personnel. Martyr Ajoy Kumar Jha was the 12th security personnel killed by the these cross border terrorist groups.

Further it stated that the lack of satisfying actions by the Indian Government to suppress such cross border terrorism despite security personnel are being killed, lives and livelihoods of innocent citizens are mercilessly destroyed and more than 60,000 people are languishing in relief camps under sub-human conditions for the last more than 14 months is really upsetting, to say the least.

The lack of actions further emboldens these terrorist groups to commit such heinous crimes without fear of the law, for instance, leaked videos of the alleged killers of martyr Ajoy Kumar Jha is already circulating over the social media but they remain at large, free to commit more attacks.

Meitei Alliance implores the Indian Government to urgently take up necessary actions to bring the perpetrators to justice and eradicate these cross border terrorist groups as a first step towards bringing peace to the state.

The alliance further reiterates to the Government to restore the Rule of Law in Manipur so that its citizens can proudly declare that they are also part of the greatest democracy on earth.
