Karimganj : In a dramatic turn of events, North Karimganj MLA Kamalakshya De Purkayastha found himself thrust into a confrontation in front of Minister Pijush Hazarika during the latter’s visit to the sluice gate along the Baleshwar river in Nathanpur area, which lies on the India-Bangladesh border in Cachar district.

The incident occurred today, July 20 leading to a tense atmosphere as protesters shouted slogans of “Kamalakshya De go back” and “Murdabad,” creating a scene of significant unrest.

The tension peaked when Purkayastha was physically pushed toward Minister Hazarika, forcing him to leave the area amidst the growing chaos. This hostile reception comes in the wake of recent events where Purkayastha had visited the Katigara assembly constituency to gather information on flood-affected individuals.
