Khatkhati police on Sunday seized 47.42 grams of heroin in two separate operations

Diphu : Three persons were arrested for possessing drugs during a search conducted by the Assam police in the Lahorijan Sunday Market area of Bokajan on Thursday evening under the Khatkhati police station.
The police team led by Bokajan Sub Divisional Police Officer Rustom Raj Brahma included the officer in charge of Khatkhati police station Nitul Saikia, sub-inspector Santana Baruah police personnel of Khatkhati police station launched the search operation at around 6.00 pm.

The search was conducted based on credible input during which the twenty soap boxes containing heroin were found inside an Alto-K car with the registration number NL01 P8634.

In this connection, three persons identified as Biswajit Momin son of Lt. Gandaraj Momin, resident of Bonglong village located within the general area of Khatkhati), Rajesh Thapa son of Lt. Some Thapa, resident of Kohima and Kevilekhol Kintso, son of Lt. Vimhazo, Potterlane of Kohima, Nagaland were taken into custody for further investigation.

The seized heroin weighing 230.77 grams was confiscated and charges against the three arrested persons would be registered as per BRSS and NDPS acts, officials concluded.

In another clean-up operation against narcotics trafficking, Khatkhati police on Sunday seized 47.42 grams of heroin in two separate operations. The arrests were made during routine checks along NH 39, accentuating the constant efforts to control drug smuggling in the area.

The first seizure occurred around 2 pm when police intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration AS 12 AA 3075 at Khatkhati. While going over, officers revealed four containers of tobacco concealing 26.52 grams of heroin. Guljar Hussain of Lahorighat locality of Morigaon district, Assam was arrested for possessing the narcotic.

In a following operation at Lahorijan around 3:30 pm, Khatkhati police apprehended Firdaus Ali aged around twenty-six years with 20.9 grams of heroin. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ali had purchased the drugs from the Lahorijan Choudhary Building, adjacent to NH 39.

The seized drugs, with small quantities, draw attention to the efforts of the paddlers to make leeway for avoidance of legal proceedings in the event of arrest, in the court of law.
