Guwahati : All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal has criticised the recent budget, stating that minorities receive Rs 200-500 crores annually, which he believes is insufficient.

Speaking to the media, Ajmal said, “Minorities do not only mean just Muslims.., I am speaking about all minorities, what do they get?…Rs 200-500 crores annually?… Modi says Beti Bachao Beti Padhao…he has stopped all the budget for higher education…you are bringing CAA for minorities from outside India but what about the minorities from India.”

Ajmal expressed disappointment over the allocation for higher education, calling the budget a ‘lollipop’ and claiming it is only good for listening. He also mentioned that the 5 kg of free ration would make people lazy. Ajmal had expected a better budget for Assam but expressed dissatisfaction with the current provisions.

Earlier this month, Badruddin Ajmal criticised the Assam government for its handling of the flood situation in Dhubri. He stated that 90 per cent of the flood-affected areas have not received any relief materials and accused the state government of doing nothing for Assam.

Ajmal mentioned that the flood situation has been ongoing for 15-20 days, resulting in many people losing their homes and lives. He termed this as the ignorance of the state government.

The flood situation in Assam continues to worsen, with the death toll now exceeding 90, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Over 5 lakh people across 18 districts are currently affected by the deluge, with Cachar district bearing the brunt of the disaster.
