KARIMGANJ : The time when the country is already shaken by the heinous rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor, another case of sexual assault and molestation came to light in the Chandkhira area of Karimganj in Assam.

Following this, a violent protest erupted on Aug 16 after a teacher was accused of sexually assaulting a minor schoolgirl at Ishwar Chandra Vidyaniketan, a private school in the locality. The accused teacher, Zahir Uddin, is currently on the run.

The incident reportedly took place when Zahir Uddin, a teacher at the school, allegedly attempted to molest the young student in his classroom.

News of the assault quickly spread, inciting anger and outrage among the local community.

Early today, a large crowd of agitated locals, including many women, gathered at the school demanding justice for the victim.

The protest soon turned violent as the enraged crowd began vandalizing school property. They set fire to the school’s furniture and blocked the road, causing widespread disruption in the area.

The situation grew increasingly tense until police from Patharkandi arrived on the scene. Local women leading the protests demanded strict punishment for the accused teacher and called for the immediate closure of Ishwar Chandra Vidyaniketan.
