Ex-Iskcon leader Chinmoy, 163 others sued in murder attempt case at Chattogram in Bangladesh

An attempt to murder case has been filed against Chinmoy Krishna Das, former ISKCON leader and spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote, and 163 others in Chattogram.

Enamul Haque, a businessperson, filed the case with Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate court on 8 December.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique took the case into cognisance, said advocate Mohammad Mainuddin, a lawyer of the plaintiff.

On 26 November, Enamul, who came to the court for registration purposes of a piece of land, was physically assaulted by the supporters of Chinmoy amid violence following the denial of his bail petition in a sedition case.

Saiful Islam Alif, a lawyer was hacked to death on the court premises during the clash on the same day.

So far, five cases have been filed in connection with the lawyer’s murder and violence centring Chinmoy’s bail.
