“We are working to establish peace in the region,” General Dwivedi
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has stated that the overall situation in the Northeast region is gradually improving.
Speaking about the ongoing challenges in Manipur, he emphasized that the synergized efforts of security forces and proactive government initiatives have brought the situation under control, although cyclic incidents of violence continue to persist.
“We are working to establish peace in the region,” General Dwivedi said, highlighting the role of various NGOs and Army veterans in reaching out to community leaders to foster reconciliation.
Addressing concerns along the Indo-Myanmar border, the Army Chief noted that enhanced surveillance and domination measures are in place to prevent any spillover from the turbulence currently taking place in Myanmar. These measures are designed to safeguard the region from external destabilizing factors.
On the topic of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, General Dwivedi underscored the Army’s commitment to upgrading its capabilities. “Based on the experience gained in 2024, we have specifically allocated Rs 17 crores for upgrading our Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and Quick Response medical teams,” he informed, reinforcing the Army’s readiness to respond effectively to emergencies.
The Indian Army’s efforts in the Northeast underline its dual focus on maintaining security and extending humanitarian support, ensuring stability and development in a challenging environment.
