Friends Of 80 Plus Celebrates 14th Foundation Day At Kohima

The Friends of 80 plus is a network and fellowship of like-minded people, a non-profit voluntary and benevolent fellowship who wish to revive and uphold the Naga traditional practice of placing highest value and respect to elders.

Kohima: The Friends of 80 plus Kohima Village celebrated its 14th Foundation Day at Kohima on 30th April 2018.

The Friends of 80 plus is a network and fellowship of like-minded people, a non-profit voluntary and benevolent fellowship who wish to revive and uphold the Naga traditional practice of placing highest value and respect to elders. Their objective is to document the stories and experiences of 80 plus citizens, to reach out in friendship and fellowship through monthly home visit, to offer medical and other physical needs, to give them psychological support which will enable them to retain their self-respect as elders of the community. The group have a common interest to befriend the 80 plus and serve them in whatever possible way.

As per 2018-19 report given by Kevitsu Yhome, 167 members of 80 plus were enrolled as on 30th April 2018 and with thirty four new members as on 30th April 2019 the Friends of 80 plus has a total number of 182 of its members at present.

A minute of silence was observed in tribute to the twenty seven departed souls of 80 plus members during the occasion.

Other highlights of the programme included a memory verse read by Alhouü Dzüvichü while Neimenuo Rame and party favoured traditional folk songs. Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie President KVGOA released the Friends of 80 plus Magazine 2019 and a medical checkup for 80 plus members by Friends from Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) was also conducted.

A community feast was hosted by the grand children of Late Vinyüü Dzüvichü.
