The Budget for 2021-22 has put emphasis on accelerating the growth momentum of the country by targeting infrastructural growth including road, rails, urban, power, ports, shipping etc. The National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) incorporates 500 more new projects. The creation of a Development Financial Institution will help address the funds requirements of different agencies. The announcement of Production Linked Incentive Scheme, Vehicle Scrapping Policy, coverage of 1 crore more families under Ujjwala Yojana etc. will boost domestic production. All these measures and thrust on infra development will have a major positive impact on the demand for steel in the long run.
Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam
A grand Union Budget 2021 to take the nation on a faster trajectory of growth: from the economy, agri sector to education and infra development, this is a budget fulfilling the aspirations of a New India, Young India.
Subramanian Swamy, MP, Rajya Sabha
I always evaluate a Budget from four angles: Objectives, Priorities, Strategy, and Resource Mobilisation. I have yet to discover what these are in this Budget. Maybe tomorrow I will decipher
Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group
In a time of unprecedented economic stress, the Govt’s responsibility was to spend enough to revive the economy or else face enormous human suffering. So I had one expectation from this budget: that we should be very liberal in terms of the targeted fiscal deficit. Box ticked.
Indian National Congress
On the 10 point test that we had suggested on 28th January, the Budget fails on Points 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. It barely passes on Point 5.:
Harsh Goenka, Chairman RPG Enterprises
Every year I refrain from giving marks to the budget thanks to my yearly check-up with my spinal doctor. This year for the first time I will give marks – 9/10. Why not 10? I probably should but if I do, I will be criticised and given names.
Narendra Modi’s statement about North East
Happy to see the aspirations of the Southern States, Northeast Ladakh find particular mention in the #AatmanirbharBharatKaBudget. The push towards better coastal infrastructure will be beneficial for the empowerment of coastal areas and fishermen communities.
Communist Party of India (Marxist)
A Colossal Betrayal of the People. It is a classic illustration of the Modi Govt’s unshakeable commitment to promoting the interests of a handful of big business houses at the expense of increasing distress and misery for the working people.
This is a forward looking Budget: Prakash Javadekar
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said that this is a forward looking Budget. Speaking to the media after the presentation of Union Budget 2021-22 by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament on Monday, the Minister commented that Coronavirus pandemic has hit economies across the world, but India has not only won the battle against COVID but is also moving forward in its fight against poverty and towards prosperity.
Highlighting the massive budgetary boost in capital expenditure, the Minister said that the over five lakh crore rupees investment in infrastructure is a major initiative. This will give a major fillip to employment, he added.
M. Asnikumar Singh, Spokesperson BJP Manipur Pradesh & Chairman Manipur Development Society
Professor Madan Mohan Goel, Former Vice Chancellor and Needonomist Professor presently Advisor (Public Finance) 6th State Finance Commission Haryana
We have to adopt a sustainable fiscal path for needed growth with infrastructure investments by keeping in mind the receipts which fall in the domain of needonomics required for atmanirbharta
Sabyasachi Dutta, Managing Director – Vidatec India
Here’s my take. This year’s digital Union Budget, a first of its kind, is definitely forward-looking growth spurring one. Though still to go through the fine print, not many negatives are visible at first glance.
