The basic common science which is not much of rocket science to understand for the ‘common man’ is that if the laws drafted were so good, then why do you have to step back and now ready to accept replacing many clauses? Is it not political back-footing? Or is it so that the laws were made by bureaucratic considerations only and the political pulse was missing
Farmers are protesting in India. It is a long march they say. Government is saying we are ready to talk and have verbally accepted many of the farmer’s demands. Still, the standstill seems to be continuing. What is wrong with protest or the farm laws that the protesting farmers are demanding to be repealed.
The severe cold, the rain and the hardship of the farmers are not only painful but is inhuman in nature. 57 farmers have died. Many are getting sick and weak but the determination of both the parties, the farmers in one hand and the government on the other is becoming more firm. Government has gone into an overdrive to make its narrative established that the farm laws that it brought are good for the farmers.

Is it not political back-footing? Or is it so that the laws were made by bureaucratic considerations only and the political pulse was missing.
Government of the day is determined to fight it out as backing out ‘now’ will be acceding a defeat, and for the farmer, it is only one point – repeal the laws. Now the protesting farmer is on their 40th day of protest and they had declared a minimum six-month fight. They say, ‘we are prepared’.
Now both the parties have drawn their swords out and are we thereby forgetting the struggle ? Media in India has agenda. People get fatigued. But can the government of the day afford to face the protest much longer? Is it not a risk to take? Does it not look like the government is heartless? Is it so that the government is becoming so over-confident of its power to accumulate votes that these issues are trivial for them?
The sign of frustration in the government machinery has already started showing with a Union Minister getting into a verbal spat with the Farmer’s Union leaders. It itself reflects a sign that there are probabilities that government can make fatal mistakes any moment. People are watching very mutely. But there is always a calm before the storm. Are we for the time being forgetting the fearless farmers for the time being? What happens if people start thinking…
