Tripura seems to have a fascination for ‘Maniks’. One ‘Manik’ ruled for 25 years and the new ‘Manik’ aims to be in office for 50 years
Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha just completed one year in his office and he predicted that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with its alliance partner Indigenous People Tribal Front (IPTF) will remain in power for 50 years.
Well, let keep this prediction at the court of the people of Tripura who will take the final call. For a democracy it will not be good if a particular political entity remains in power for such a long period of time.
The chief minister should focus on his job at hand first. Tripura has many complex issues and it need to be solved. It will be naïve on the part of Saha to blame his predecessors for the dismal state of Tripura.
We waste a lot of time in mindless criticism and unnecessary talking. Today both Manik Sarkar and Biplab Kumar Deb have become history. They are no longer relevant in the politics of Tripura.
The health sector of Tripura calls for immediate attention. Being a doctor the chief minister must work on this sector. ‘Power’ is a medium to solve the issues of common people.
‘Power’ should not be considered as a means to demean anyone. Instead of focusing on completing 50 years in office the government needs to focus on fulfilling its promises in 60 months.
Tripura seems to have a fascination for ‘Maniks’. One ‘Manik’ ruled for 25 years and the new ‘Manik’ aims to be in office for 50 years.
It’s good indeed the chief minister has a vision for his party. Certainly he has a vision for Tripura. Hopefully he will achieve the dreams of both his party and the people of Tripura.
